Resources to rural leaders
The Resources to Rural Leaders Project emerged through a simple need.
The Foundation’s Manager of Leadership, Evaluation and Development, Jenny Andrews was clearing out children’s books that her own kids had outgrown and were no longer using, most of which were in beautiful condition.
After posting an advertisement in the Foundation’s electronic newsletter, the Network-E about the books as suitable for a community organisation or school, Jenny was swamped with enquiries from network members – and thus the project emerged.
Talking to members, Jenny realised it was not just books that communities and schools needed, but sporting equipment, games, clothing, toys and craft materials.
With assistance from the National Library of Australia, ABC Radio and Foundation staff members, the resources project has helped organisations like OneLifeSuicide Prevention in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt and the Born to Read project in Condobolin.
