Welcome new CE - Matt Linnegar

The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation is very pleased to welcome Matt Linnegar as our new Chief Executive.

Mr Linnegar, who is currently Chief Executive Officer of the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF), is a graduate of the Foundation’s iconic Australian Rural Leadership Program. He completed Course 7 of the Program in 2001, and brings some wonderful insights into the benefits of the Foundation's range of leadership development offerings.

“The Foundation is delighted to have been able to appoint someone with Mr Linnegar’ s outstanding record and experience in organisations representing rural and regional Australia,” Foundation Chair, Dr Wendy Craik said.

“He has worked in both not for profit organisations including the NFF and the Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia as well as commercial organisations such as Murrumbidgee Irrigation.”

In his most recent role as NFF CEO, Mr Linnegar succeeded in increasing both the membership base and budget. Mr Linnegar also led the development of the highly successful Blueprint for Australian Agriculture.

“We look forward to Matt bringing his strategic focus and ability to forge valuable partnerships to the Foundation, to take the Foundation and its programs to a new level.” Dr Craik said.

Mr Linnegar said he was excited by the challenge of leading one of the most respected leadership organisations in Australia.

“Now more than ever rural, regional and remote Australia needs strong leaders who can influence positive change. I look forward taking a central role in meeting this challenge,” he said.

Mr Linnegar will succeed current Chief Executive Lesley Fitzpatrick and will commence at the Foundation in late July, 2014.
