Future Leaders 15 first session complete
A dynamic group of diverse wine and grape leaders gathered for the first session of Future Leaders 2015 over 9-14 June 2015. After an intensive experiential component, they regrouped in Canberra to hear from Paul Porteous, an eminent worker in the area of leadership, and David Salt, science writer.
Paul spoke about leadership as a vehicle for learning and to increase capacity. He spoke passionately about a number of contexts throughout the world in which he worked with local communities to create change. Paul emphasised the improtance of context and leadership from within that context.
David provided an entertaining presentation about resilience thinking. Not for the faint-hearted, David provided an overview of this complex yet practical way of reframing our management decision making, leaving the group with much to digest!
Session two of Future Leaders 2015 provides the participants with a blended package of material with the majority delivered online. They can chat to one another and build an understanding of ethical leadership, leadrship theories and practice, and leadership influence through the variety of resources offered to them.
Session three will be in the beautiful Yarra Valley in Victoria in July and early August. This is followed by a "project" session, with participants working towards a group leadership endeavour in September, culminating in a final wrap-up in Adelaide in October.
