New Patron announced at Annual General Meeting
Australia's Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) has agreed to become the Patron-in-Chief of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF).
ARLF Chairman, Michael Carroll, welcomed the support of Sir Peter Cosgrove, for the critically important role of leadership development in rural, regional and remote areas.
"The ARLF is very pleased that Sir Peter Cosgrove has agreed to succeed former Governor General, Major General Sir Michael Jeffery AC AO (Mil) CVO MC (Retd) who served as ARLF Patron for the last seven years," Mr Carroll said.
"The ARLF was established in 1992 and through generous support of Government, business and philanthropists, has helped over 1,000 Australians living in rural, regional and remote areas to build their leadership capability."
"Many of the ARLF alumni are now in important community, business and political roles at Federal, State and local levels across the country and carry their pride and passion for the country with them."
"Under the new ARLF Constitution, we are now starting to explore opportunities to broaden our leadership programs into the Asia-Pacific region and help engage emerging leaders within our region."
"With such strong support from our Patron-in-Chief, the ARLF looks forward with confidence to the next 25 years of helping to grow leaders in rural, regional and remote areas - in Australia and in Asia."
