Rice industry hones leaders
The 2016 Rice Industry Leadership Program, which the Foundation delivers for the Ricegrowers Association of Australia, wrapped up in the NSW Riverina last week.
Participants spent time exploring diverse businesses and leadership challenges of the rice-growing region. Leaders visited the Leeton Mill and spent the week exchanging ideas and knowledge with people in a diverse range of leadership roles, as well as forging stronger connections with their industry peers.
"A highlight of the session was discovering that leadership is an ongoing process, not just an outcome," program participant Campbell Dalton said.
Sixteen participants graudated from the RGA leadership program, representing diverse areas of the industry: Elisa Campbell; Craig Collie; Steve Colman; Campbell Dalton; indsay Golsby-Smith; Anna Jewell; Matt Lane; James Mann; Wendy McDonald; Dermot McKane; Fraser McNaul; James Nixon; Sarah Robertson; Josh Small; Leah Wythes and Maureen Zeschke. The cohort included primary producers, agronomists, students of agriculture, irrigation specialists, project managers and communications specialists.
"The week at Yanco with this inspiring group has assured me that the future of the industry and this region is assured," ARLF program facilitator, Graham Smith, said.
