Torres Strait Islander women uncover family treasures on leadership visit to Canberra

Seven women from the Torres Strait have been granted access to the corridors of power and a rare viewing of cultural treasures during a three-day leadership visit to Canberra.
Larissa Bani, Jenni Pilot, Helen Mosby, Olive Bann, Susana Tapau, Vera Havili and Lisa Lui are participants in the 2015 Torres Strait Women's Leadership Program.
Mentor Michelle Deshong — a former senior public servant and the 2015 Fulbright Indigenous Professional Scholar — said the program was aimed at encouraging women to participate in political activity. Read the full story here.
